Sonja Reiner studied Technology Management & Optimization at RWU. Today she works as a project manager at ifm efector gmbh in Tettnang.

"I was particularly attracted to the TMO degree program by the range of different profiles on offer. Here, everyone has the opportunity to find their suitable specialization and the small group size creates a familiar atmosphere.

The great practical relevance during the course was particularly varied and exciting for me. In intensive group work, projects are developed in laboratories at RWU and in cooperation with companies from the region."

Yann Breitenbücher

Yann Breitenbücher studied Technology Management & Optimization at RWU. Today, he works as a Project Management Officer at Airbus Defence and Space in Immenstaad on Lake Constance.

"The practice-oriented master's program in Technology Management & Optimization (TMO) offered me a great opportunity to apply, deepen and expand the technical as well as business skills I had acquired in my bachelor's degree using real-world examples, case studies, simulations and products. In addition, I learned how to analyze processes, products, business models, and services in depth and ultimately optimize them based on my understanding of technical and business interrelationships.

In addition to the strong practical relevance, the offered specialization "International & Entrepreneurship" was particularly decisive for me, which enabled me to complete part of my master's studies at the partner university in France (SCBS) and to graduate with an additional Master of Science. After completing my TMO studies, I was then even able to choose from several job offers."

Julia Bux

Julia Bux studied Technology Management & Optimization at RWU. Today, she works as a management consultant at Voith in Heidenheim.

"What appealed to me most about the Technology Management & Optimization program was the wide range of subjects and the diversity of the university. The contact with international fellow students, the lectures in English and the many projects in different teams made it easier for me to start my career in an international company.

Thanks to the sound education at RWU, the intensive support of the professors and the opportunity to write my master's thesis in cooperation with a company, today, six years after graduating, I can look back on a stellar career at Voith."

Marcus Kronmaier

Marcus Kronmaier studied Technology Management & Optimization at RWU. Today, he works as an Industrial Engineer at Lindauer Dornier GmbH in Lindau.

"The master's degree in Technology Management & Optimization (TMO) that I have completed is an extremely important building block for me to be able to master the major challenges in an increasingly complex professional world. Exciting projects with technology-oriented companies and research institutes from applied research were my personal highlights during the three semesters at RWU.

In addition, the specialization in topics such as production and management systems in particular provides a basis for setting the course at the central control points of manufacturing companies directly after graduation.

Right at the start of my career, I was given the opportunity to manage a plant restructuring project. Thus, the TMO master's program can be described analogously to the very appropriate RWU slogan: 'Realizing potential. Shaping the future'"

Jasmin Schmid

Jasmin Schmid studied industrial engineering and technology management & optimization at RWU. Today, she works as Head of Quality, Environment & Safety at AVL SET in Wangen im Allgäu.

"During my training as an administrative assistant, I quickly started to question processes. And I came to the conclusion that I would prefer to design and optimize processes in the future, with the goal of making real progress. I then decided to study industrial engineering because I've always been fascinated by technical solutions, but I'm also interested in the business side.

What I particularly liked about RWU was working with fellow students from different degree programs. As a result, I learned how to deal with different types of people (technicians, business administration graduates, etc.) during my studies, which really benefited me in the working world.

Afterwards, I did a Master's degree in Technology Management & Optimization at RWU to broaden my knowledge, especially with regard to topics like digital production, technological trends and innovative business models.

So now, as Head of Quality, Environment & Safety, I can work on topics that I can actively help shape and that I enjoy. In addition, as a female manager, I can work to motivate more women to take on responsible tasks."

Sven Zinnäcker

Sven Zinnäcker studied Engineering Management & Optimization at RWU. Today, he works as a development engineer for "Mechanic Design and Concepting" of driver assistance systems at the ZF Group in Friedrichshafen.

"Above all, the combination of technology and business administration was important to me when I decided on the broad-based master's program "Technology Management & Optimization" (TMO). In addition to the latest technologies, such as autonomous systems and 3D printing, the program also teaches business thinking and action.

The intensive group projects, some of which have to be worked on with companies and real tasks are particularly effective.

Above all, the interactions within the group are, in addition to the course content, probably the most important point in later working life.

After completing the "Master of Engineering", I was offered a job directly with a large automotive supplier. As a development engineer, I am jointly responsible for the "mechanical design and concepting" of driver assistance systems, which I really enjoy and which offers great development prospects.

Abreise

Bei bester Stimmung und tollem Wetter starteten wir mit dem Bus am Sonntag, den 13. Oktober 2024 in Richtung Frankreich. Der Weg führte uns entlang des Bodensees, weiter durch das beeindruckende Höllental und schließlich durch das Grand Est bis nach Troyes. Die Vorfreude war greifbar – nicht nur auf die Stadt, sondern auch auf die spannende Zeit, die vor uns lag!

Besuch an der SCBS (South Champagne Business School)

Am zweiten Tag starteten wir mit einem herzlichen Kennenlernen unserer französischen Kommilitoninnen und Kommilitonen an der SCBS (South Champagne Business School). Es war schön zu sehen, wie schnell die Teams zueinander gefunden haben. Nach dem Kennenlernen folgte eine Einführung in das zu bearbeitende Projekt. Da Troyes im Zentrum der Champagnerherstellung liegt, war es naheliegend, ein Projektthema aus diesem Bereich herauszugreifen. Konkret ging es um die die Analyse von zukünftigen Markttrends in der Champagnerbranche. 

Stadtführung

Der Nachmittag ließen wir mit einer interessanten Stadtführung ausklingen, bei der wir die schönen Straßen, alten Fachwerkhäuser und die beeindruckende Geschichte von Troyes erkundeten. Außerdem hat der Stadtführer uns erklärt, warum die Fachwerkhäuser so schief stehen – es war nicht der Champagner!

Besuch des Champagnerhauses Reaut

Am dritten Tag besuchten wir das Champagnerhaus Reaut und wurden von Alexandre, dem Inhaber, herzlich empfangen. Seine Leidenschaft für die Champagnerherstellung war ansteckend! Es war faszinierend, alles über die verschiedenen Rebsorten, die Ernte, die Fermentation und Lagerung zu erfahren.  Natürlich durften wir auch einige der köstlichen Produkte probieren – ein Highlight für alle!

Am Abend fanden wir uns alle zu einem gemeinsamen Essen ein. Bei gutem Essen und leckeren Getränken ließen wir die Erlebnisse Revue passieren und genossen die entspannte Atmosphäre. 

Am letzten Tag hieß es dann leider Abschied nehmen. Die Rückfahrt im Bus war geprägt von einem Mix aus Eindrücken, Ideen hinsichtlich der Projektarbeit und Ermüdung. 

Insgesamt war die Exkursion nach Troyes nicht nur eine tolle Möglichkeit, die Stadt und ihre Kultur kennenzulernen, sondern auch eine wunderbare Gelegenheit, als Gruppe zusammenzuwachsen. Bis zur nächsten Exkursion!
