Student Administration Office, consisting of the Admissions Office and the Student Examination Office, is located in the main building in room H 022 and is open all year round , including during semester breaks. If the Student Administration Office is closed, the staff can still be contacted by telephone and e-mail for important matters.

The Student Administration Office is responsible for questions relating to the organization of your studies:

The timetable for each degree course shows exactly when the theoretical and practical phases of the course take place. You will receive a timetable for each semester in good time before the start of lectures via the LSF.

To access the timetable, click on LSF: Courses -> Degree course plans -> select the degree course -> enter a value for from and to semester (e.g. 1 to 1 for the first semester) -> you will now receive a weekly view and can view the plan for each week.

Courses start at 8 a.m. at the earliest and end at 7:15 p.m. at the latest. However, there may be days in the timetable when there are no courses. These are intended for self-study.

To continue your studies, re-register for each new semester before the start of the semester during the re-registration period. In this way, you retain your student status and remain enrolled in the next semester. You will be informed of the re-registration period each semester by email to your university email address. You can also find the re-registration period under Dates.

You can find the invoice for re-registration in myCampus-the university portal of RWU. Now transfer the semester fee. Payment of any tuition fees is also a prerequisite for re-registration. However, the deadlines for paying tuition fees may differ from the re-registration deadline. You will find the exact details in your tuition fee notice.

You can register directly online via myCampus to re-register. Please note the official re-registration period, as a late fee of EUR 14.00 will be charged for late re-registration.

General information on applying for a semester of leave of absence can be found in the RWU Ravensburg-Weingarten University statutes on enrollment, re-registration, leave of absence and de-registration. The current version can be found on this page in the Admissions Office section.

If possible, please submit the complete application for leave of absence online before the semester in question and before the start of the lecture period via myCampus-the university portal of RWU. The required evidence to support the application must be uploaded with the application.

Please note: A leave of absence in the first semester is generally not permitted (with the exception of the above-mentioned family reasons). In addition, a leave of absence should not exceed two semesters. Please bear in mind that you are not allowed to attend courses or complete coursework and examinations during a semester of leave (with the exception of the above-mentioned family reasons).

Students can apply for a semester of leave if there is an important reason.

Important reasons include

  • family aspects (pregnancy, maternity leave, parental leave, care leave)
  • prolonged illness
  • Stay abroad (semester or internship)
  • Voluntary internship that serves the study objective
  • FSJ, BFD, etc.

Financial or economic reasons are not recognized!

The practical semester is compulsory in every Bachelor's degree program and takes place in one of the semesters of study. It comprises a whole semester (half a year) or, in other words, 95 attendance days. It is completed in an institution or company that relates to your professional field.

You can find all the necessary information on the website of the Student Examination Office in the General Study and Examination Regulations (SPO) under §5 Compulsory practical semester. Please also check whether additional requirements or guidelines for the practical semester apply in the examination regulations for your degree program.

On the page of your degree program you will also find your contact person at the practical semester office under "Contact and people".

All students from all degree programs must register with the Student Service in the Admissions Office if they wish to postpone their internship semester. An exception to this is the Social Work degree program. Here, an application for a different course of study must be submitted to the Chair of the Examination Board.

If you are already a student at RWU and would like to change your degree program, simply apply in myCampus-the university portal of RWU during the usual deadlines for the new degree program and enclose all application documents including a transcript of records (uncertified form). Everything else will then be handled internally by the Admissions and Examinations Office.

If Bachelor's students are at the end of the 10th semester or Master's students are at the end of the 6th or 8th semester, then an application for an extension of the study period can be submitted.

There is no form for this, you have to write a letter with reasons yourself. You then submit the letter directly to the Examination Office directly. The decision on your application will be made by the Central Examination Board (ZPA).

There can be many reasons for de-registration. In the best case scenario, you have completed all the required coursework and successfully completed your studies. However, it can also be due to a lack of re-registration before the start of a new semester, the loss of examination entitlement, the absence of important documents (such as proof of health insurance), exceeding the semester limit or a change of university. In any of these cases, this will result in de-registration.

No, you must actively apply for de-registration. You can submit this online directly via myCampus. You can find further information, including the required documents, in your online student service.

The de-registration date can be selected as follows:

  • Exmatriculation at the end of the semester (summer 31.08., winter 28.02.), which has the advantage that you are enrolled until the end of the semester and are covered by health insurance as a student until then (recommended)
  • Exmatriculation with the last service; you will be exmatriculated on the date of your last service and are no longer insured as a student from then on.
  • If you exmatriculate within one month of the start of lectures, you can apply for a refund of the fees paid. Please note the application deadline for both applications: The application for de-registration and the application for a refund must be submitted within one month of the start of lectures.

When submitting the online application for de-registration, you must upload the form for the discharge notes.

Please also indicate on the form whether you would like to have the documents sent to you or collect them in person. If you are unsure about your future address, please enter your e-mail address. We will then notify you when the documents are ready. These can then still be sent to you by post.

 

Required releases:

  • University library (proof that you do not own any books from there and that no loan fees are outstanding)
  • Technical operations (proof that you do not have a key to the university premises)

Everything else will be completed by the Admissions and Examinations Office. If possible, submit the application before the end of the re-registration period.

For all other reasons for de-registration, please also submit an application. You may need the certificate of de-registration to submit to the employment office or to enrol at another university.

Yes, cooperative doctorates are possible in various constellations at RWU and are expressly supported. The doctorate is carried out in cooperation with a university or university of education that awards the doctorate. In many cases, RWU is the employer and the workplace is at the university.

The Admissions Office is the first interface between applicants and our university.

General information about the Student Examination Office

The Examinations Office is the point of contact for general questions about examinations and grades, as well as queries about study and examination regulations (SPO).

Registration of the thesis

FAQ Exams

At the end of the 4th or 5th semester (depending on the degree program), you must have completed all coursework with the exception of a maximum of 10 credits from the first two semesters, otherwise you will receive the letter "Loss of examination entitlement". You can appeal against this, you will not be exmatriculated immediately.

You can register for an examination via MyCampus (LSF). You can register and deregister compulsory and elective subjects there in the "Exam registration and deregistration" section by selecting a subject from the list. If you cannot find a subject in the list, please register it via the QM portal, which is also located in this area (direct link provided under "Exam registration and deregistration").

You can find the examination registration period under Exam dates.

Yes, you must register all services that you want to be booked.

No, as a guest student you are not allowed to take any examinations.

Yes, you can take examinations during the practical semester.

No, no examinations may be taken during the semester of leave. This does not apply to semesters on leave due to maternity leave, parental leave, pregnancy or childcare obligations.

If you decide that you do not want to take an exam after all, you can deregister from it within the exam registration and deregistration period in MyCampus (LSF) again. Since the summer semester 2020, this is no longer mandatory; if you do not appear for the first attempt at an examination, you do not have to expect any consequences.

Important: Portfolio examinations can no longer be deregistered once you have completed a partial performance!

If you are unable to attend one of your registered examinations, you can simply make it up in the following semester. You do not need to deregister or re-register with the Examinations Office.

If it is a written, oral or practical examination, please contact the relevant lecturer.

Please note that this regulation does not apply to portfolio examinations!

The submission is necessary if you are absent from parts of a portfolio examination due to illness. In these cases, the certificate of incapacity for examination completed by the doctor must be submitted within 14 days of the relevant examination date.

In all other cases, a certificate is voluntary.

If this examination is a compulsory examination, it must be repeated:

  • From summer semester 2023, you must also register for repeat examinations (first retake) yourself. However, you can register and deregister during the examination registration and deregistration period. Special regulations apply to portfolio examinations.
  • There is no longer a mandatory deadline for taking repeat examinations. However, you must ensure that you have completed all parts of the intermediate examination, with the exception of a maximum of 10, by the end of the fourth semester, otherwise you will lose your right to take the examination (see § 7 of the Bachelor SPO).

No. However, please note that study plans agreed with the head of degree program are mandatory.

The second repetition requires that you submit proof of advising from the student advisory service of the respective degree program to the Examinations Office by the time you register for the examination.

The Examination Office will then register the second resit of the examination.

After the examination period, the grades of your examinations are entered in MyCampus (LSF) as soon as the examiner has entered them there.

Log in to Moodle with your university account details and register for the course on your own to gain access to the further information provided there.

FAQ Theses

You can register your thesis (Bachelor's or Master's thesis) online via the QM-ENGINE portal.

When you register, you will also receive a link to the form: Notification of completion of thesis. 
The form must be enclosed with the submission of the thesis and should contain the final title of the thesis. It will then be included in the degree certificate. You can also find the form in the download area of our website.

The Public Relations provides various RWU logo designs for download.

You hand in one printed copy per examiner to the Examinations Office. In addition, a data carrier with the digital version of the thesis must be handed in for the first examiner. If the second examiner is external, you submit the copy to the external examiner yourself and only hand in the copy for the university examiner at the Examinations Office.

The thesis can either be handed in personally at the Examinations Office during the opening hours of Student Services or posted in one of our mailboxes in the main building. If you are not on site, you can also send us your thesis by post. Please scan the proof of posting and send it to the person responsible in the Examinations Office. The submission date at the post office is the "submission date".

Exception: Faculty T - the work can be submitted via Moodle.

In addition to the copies and the data carrier, please also enclose the completed forms "Fertigstellung der Abschlussarbeit" (please only fill in the upper part) and the "Exmatrikulationsantrag" of the thesis.

Yes, according to the SPO, the Bachelor's thesis can be extended once, usually by 4 weeks, and the Master's thesis once, usually by 3 months. To do this, you must submit an application to qmengine.rwu.de . To do this, click on your approved thesis. If you click on the "Extension" field, the extension application will open. Fill it out and explain the reasons for which you are not responsible. The application for an extension of the thesis is automatically forwarded to all persons concerned and approved by them. In the event of prolonged illness, a further extension or, in justified individual cases, even a suspension is possible.

If you are stuck with your term paper and other written work, you are welcome to take advantage of our individual writing advice in the Didactics Center's Learning Café. We can help you with everything from finding a topic and structuring your writing project to planning your day-to-day work.
