The graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Technology and Management took place on Friday, June 14: 78 graduates who successfully completed their bachelor's or master's degree in the winter semester 2023/2024 were presented with their certificates in a festive setting. "We are here today to honor your great achievements," said Professor Dr. Andreas Pufall, who hosted the ceremony, at the beginning. He also welcomed the guests of honor in attendance: Alexander Geiger, Mayor of Weingarten, and Dafne Joel, member of the University Council.
The Rectorate's congratulations were presented by Professor Dr. Michael Pfeffer, Vice-Rector for Research, International Affairs and Transfer. In his greeting, he quoted the French mathematician and philosopher René Descartes: "Doubt is the beginning of wisdom" and encouraged the graduates to continue to question things and think critically.
Awards for the best students
The heads of the respective degree programs then presented the certificates to their former students. The best graduates of the year were also honored: In the bachelor's degree courses, these were Leonie Müller (Business Administration and Management), Laura Wittmann (Industrial Engineering) and Ridhish Mansukhbhai Sheladiya (Physical Engineering). Julia Lebert (Business Administration and Entrepreneurship), Tim Drewniok (Technology Management and Optimization) and Tobias Eckmann (International Business Management & Sustainability) received awards in the master's degree courses.
In his speech, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Nils Hagen, drew some analogies to soccer, as the opening match of the European Football Championship was taking place on the same evening: The graduates - just like soccer players - had shown a lot of motivation, determination and perseverance over the past few years, he said. "They all persevered to the end - despite a few defeats that one or two of them had to overcome," said Nils Hagen. "I would like to congratulate you all on your success!" He also thanked everyone for their support from the sidelines: "Without the support of families and friends and from the university, many careers would not have been possible."
The celebration was accompanied by music from the duo "Heart Copy" from Ravensburg.
