"You have really achieved something special"

In December, the Faculty of Social Work, Health and Nursing bid farewell to its graduates who completed their degrees at RWU in the summer semester of 2023. There were 118 in total, around half of them in the Social Work degree program, followed by Applied Psychology (21) and Health Economics (18). The certificates were presented to the new Bachelor's and Master's graduates by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Jörg Wendorf, and the respective course directors

And even if the pandemic no longer plays a role in everyday student life, it was still present for a moment at this graduation ceremony: "You started your studies under corona conditions and some of you have completed several corona semesters. That required a great deal of self-discipline. Those who are receiving their certificates here today have really achieved something special. They have demonstrated great competence," said Jörg Wendorff, congratulating the graduates.

"Today you are starting your careers"

The former students and their families were also welcomed by Professor Dr Heidi Reichle, Vice-Rector for Digitalization, Didactics and University Communication. "It's nice to see so many happy faces," said Heidi Reichle. "We saw each other when we welcomed the first semester students, when you started your studies. And today you are starting your careers!".

The long guest list underlined RWU's close ties to the institutions, facilities and companies in the region. Mayor Clemens Moll personally presented the prize of the city of Weingarten to Melissa Kleinort. She had written her final thesis in the Social Work degree program on the subject of "The effectiveness of mindfulness training to improve stress management and mental health in schoolgirls".

Prizes for special academic achievements

The ZfP Südwürttemberg prize went to Frederike Wagner from the Nursing degree program. Alexandra Vogt, responsible for care coordination at the NICU, honored the thesis, which dealt with the importance of intuition and concern on the part of nurses for the early recognition of deteriorating conditions and thus for improving patient safety.

Andrea Müller, responsible for social planning at Ravensburg District Office, presented the Ravensburg District Office prize to Stefanie Johler. She had written the thesis entitled "Grief in adolescence - a qualitative study on the loss of loved ones" to complete her Master's degree in Applied Health Science.

Finally, the student body honored particularly committed fellow students. Laura Niechoj and Martina Eger from the AstA team presented the VS prize to Linda Lopez and Charlotte Winzen.
