Vehicle Mechatronics

Fahrzeugmechatronik

Modern motor vehicles today have a large number of control units. These control, for example, the active and passive safety components of the vehicles, the combustion engine, battery charging or even the vehicle itself (autonomous driving). The electronic components of a vehicle with associated software are the innovation drivers in vehicle development today.

Focuses

In the automotive mechatronics major, you will focus on the fundamentals of motor vehicles and automotive electronics:

5th semester:

  • Fundamentals of motor vehicles
  • Internal combustion engines
  • Mechanical drive technology
  • Electric drives and controls
  • Automotive Engineering Practicum

6th semester:

  • Mechatronic applications
  • Microcontroller programming
  • Alternative Drives
  • Systems Engineering
  • Project

Electives:

Extensive elective options (5 modules) are available from the 5th to the 7th semester to deepen the knowledge and own interests.

Career & Perspectives

Interdisciplinary knowledge in the development of mechatronic systems is particularly in demand today. Those who master the design of components and also their programming are in great demand in the automotive industry. Increasingly, the added value lies in the electronic components of vehicles. This also applies in the off-road sector for commercial vehicles, special vehicles and agricultural machinery.
