After studying economics at Leibniz University in Hanover, Prof. Dr. Jan-Marc Hodek worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Health Economics and Health Management at the Faculty of Health Sciences in Bielefeld from 2005 to 2010. In 2005, he was awarded the Wilhelm Launhardt Prize by the Friends of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in Hanover for his final thesis on the economic consequences of reforms in the healthcare system. His dissertation in 2010 dealt with questions of customer loyalty and switching behavior in health insurance. From 2010 to 2014, he worked as a consultant in the field of health economics at the Federal Ministry of Health in the office of the German Council of Economic Experts for the Assessment of Developments in the Health Care System. Since 2014, he has been a professor for "Financial Management in Healthcare" at Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences. His work focuses on the economic analysis of healthcare facilities and the underlying healthcare policy decisions. He is also involved in health economic analyses of the health insurance market and the inpatient sector (with a focus on the rehabilitation sector).
