Profile
The Chemistry and Environmental Analysis Laboratory is divided into two areas of emphasis, Chemistry/Physical Chemistry and Environmental Analytical Techniques.
Chemistry/Physical Chemistry
The Chemistry/Physical Chemistry laboratory provides practical introductions to the basic principles of chemistry and physical chemistry. You will learn chemical and physical-chemical basics such as neutralization, acid/base systems, redox systems, solubility, precipitation, thermodynamic quantities, kinetic processes, state diagrams, and electrochemical laws in practice.
The following experiments are offered experimentally:
- redox/electrochemistry
- Calorimetry
- Conductometric acid/base titration
- Acid/base systems
- Melting diagrams of eutectic systems
- Ester saponification
- Solubility diagrams of ternary systems
Environmental analytical methods
In the laboratory for environmental analytical methods, samples from the environmental areas of water, soil and air can be examined.
The following modern analytical systems are available:
- High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
- Ion chromatography (IC)
- Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS)
- Infrared spectroscopy (IR)
- Ultraviolet/visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis)
- Fluorescence spectroscopy
- Voltammetry (VA)
- Kjeldahl distillation unit
