University city Weingarten

Students developed the "Say hello!" campaign

Hochschulstadt Weingarten Kampagne "Sag Hallo"

Weingarten has officially been allowed to call itself a university town for a good year now. If 7,000 people study at two universities in a town with 25,000 inhabitants, then it has every right to bear this title. To help students identify even more with Weingarten as their town, municipal university representative Melanie Koller developed the "Say hello!" campaign together with three media design students, Alisa Hanselmann, Laura Melcher and Marie Schott.

In the process, a logo for the "University City of Weingarten" was also created with the large, spatial W in the city color red. It has been used since March, including on the "Say hello!" campaign developed in parallel. This is aimed primarily at the new students who are now starting their studies in Weingarten for the summer semester. "You'll soon find out that it's not only good to study here, but also great to live here," the first-semester students are welcomed.

A registration with first residence supports the city

The campaign is designed to encourage new Weingarten residents to register their first residence here. For every citizen registered with a primary residence, the city receives a financial allocation; for citizens registered with a secondary residence, it does not receive this money. This means, explained Lord Mayor Clemens Moll at the semester welcome, that registration also helps the city to continue to invest in a diverse range of offers, in culture, sports, nature and urban infrastructure.

The new logo can also be found on a to-go cup that students receive when they register, along with a package of welcome vouchers. In addition, there is a competition to win other iPads, among other things.
