1977 - 1979 Military service

1979 - 1980 Training as a commercial airline pilot for Deutsche Lufthansa in Bremen and Phoenix (USA)

1980 - 1986 Studied mathematics at the University of Constance Graduated with a degree in mathematics

1986 - 1991 Development engineer and project manager at the central research and development department of Siemens AG in Munich Field of work: Security in heterogeneous computer networks

1991 - 1993 Project engineer for the development of the D1 mobile network of Deutsche Telekom in Bonn Field of work: Securing the air interface

1993 - 1995 Consultant at the Sparkassen Informatik Zentrum in Bonn Field of work: Introduction of the cash card
