Start of the summer semester with 256 first-semester students

Weingartenen - For the start of the semester, RWU ceremoniously welcomed its new students at the Culture and Congress Center in Weingarten. A total of 256 young people are starting their studies at RWU in the summer semester. The welcoming event was held together with the city of Weingarten. Lord Mayor Clemens Moll opened the event and welcomed the new students to the university town: "I wish you an exciting course of study and a great time here in Weingarten."

20 bachelor's and master's degree courses are starting at RWU in the summer semester. The bachelor's degree programs in Business Administration and Management and Social Work are the most popular and also have the highest number of new students. The same applies to the English-language bachelor's degree course in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, for which international students from twelve countries come to Weingarten.

"The most beautiful and exciting years"

International students make up a total of 15 percent at RWU. This semester, 58 young people from 22 different countries are starting their studies. Among others, they come from Malaysia and Sri Lanka, Cameroon and Zimbabwe, Ukraine and Portugal, Brazil and Canada. "The whole world is represented here," said Professor Dr. Thomas Spägele, rector of RWU, in his welcoming speech.

The rector encouraged the remaining students to spend a semester abroad at one of the more than 50 partner universities worldwide during their studies: "The world is beautiful, discover it!" These experiences are an absolute enrichment for personal development. But you also have the opportunity to think outside the box in Weingarten, Thomas Spägele continues: "Learn a new language, make new and international contacts and get to know a new culture. And overcome your professional boundaries by getting a taste of other faculties and subject areas."

Varied program for the "freshmen"

After the official part of the semester welcome, during which the members of the rectorate and the deans of the university also introduced themselves, the student representatives and the student councils took over. They guided the new students through the city to the university campus.

After the first-year students were welcomed and introduced to the subject by their respective course directors on the following day, Wednesday was the day of initiatives and institutions. This gave the students the opportunity to get to know the various university facilities and the numerous university groups and to obtain information.
